Established in April 2021, Made in San Diego Clothing Company was born right here in America’s Finest City—San Diego, California.
Like many clothing brands, we started by noticing something that was missing. We saw the same overpriced, cookie-cutter merchandise in team stores around town and thought San Diego deserved something more creative—something with personality, originality, and a little more attitude.
What started with an idea and a few designs quickly became something bigger. We wanted to create a brand that people could wear proudly to sporting events, around the city, and wherever life takes them. Something that represented San Diego without feeling like just another souvenir.
The name Made in San Diego is a play on the familiar phrase “Made in China,” a label found on products everywhere. We wanted to flip that idea and create something that could represent our city just as proudly: Made in San Diego.
And being Made in San Diego isn’t about where you were born. It’s about what you represent. Whether you were born and raised here, moved here yesterday, or simply carry San Diego with you wherever you go, this brand is for anyone who takes pride in the city and wants to represent it both inside and outside its borders.
One of our biggest early moments came when Manny Machado and Joe Musgrove were spotted wearing our “San Diego Is The Shit” T-shirt—one of the very first designs we ever created. Seeing San Diego athletes representing something we built from the ground up was the kind of moment that made us realize this could become something much bigger.
We like to think of Made in San Diego like a plant.
San Diego is the soil.
The brand is the seed.
And our supporters are the water.
Every person who wears our gear, shares our brand, supports a drop, or simply tells someone about Made in San Diego helps us grow.
As long as San Diego keeps giving us roots and our supporters keep giving us water, we’ll keep growing.
